Meet your Host - Natalee Eason — Filmmaker · Storyteller · Advocate

Natalee Eason is a Black, autistic, queer, vegan filmmaker, photographer and storyteller redefining visibility for neurodivergent women. Founder of Vegan Soul Tribe and creator of the M.A.M.M.A.L. Framework, she’s filmed 11,000 + hours documenting life, healing, and movement across the world. Featured by People Magazine, Plant Based News, and the Vegan Women’s Summit, Natalee bridges sustainability, artistry, and advocacy while building partnerships that center ancestral storytelling and neurodivergent brilliance.

Community Reflections: Seen, Safe, and Unmasked

The Neurodivergent Retreats Abroad movement was born from lived experience — created by Natalee Eason, a 32-year-old autistic, queer, vegan nomad, K9 Trainer, filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist. After over a year and a half of living abroad, now in Mérida, Yucatán — one of the safest cities in the world — Natalee has built trust with the local vegan, neurodivergent and creative communities internationally to design spaces where other neurodivergent women can finally exhale, unmask, and belong.

"I've only told one person. and it's thanks to ppl. like you that are sharing their truths that I understand myself more now."

-TikTok Comment, 2025

“Everything you describe — the silence, the sensory rest, the laughter with your inner self — it’s what I’ve needed but never knew how to ask for. This retreat feels like home already.”

— Early Subscriber, Retreat Waitlist 2025

“These Neurodivergent retreats abroad are not a performance. They’re an act of reclamation — for women like us who have had to lead, mask, and survive. Here, we get to just be.”

— Natalee Eason, Founder & Creator of UNMASKED

FAQ

Created and led by filmmaker and advocate Natalee Eason, Vegan Soul Tribe Retreats are the first immersive, sensory-safe experiences abroad designed exclusively for Black, Brown, LGBTQIA+, and neurodivergent women. Each gathering follows the M.A.M.M.A.L. Framework—Mindful Energy, Advocacy Through Action, Masking Awareness, Movement as Expression, Ancestral Connection, and Love as Leadership—to restore rhythm, creativity, and community for those who have rarely been seen, yet always carried the story.

What can I expect from the retreats?

Each retreat blends mindful movement, nourishing plant-based meals, and ancestral connection.

Every moment is structured for rest, regulation, and creativity, guided by the M.A.M.M.A.L. Framework to help guests return to body, breath, and belonging.

Creating a space where neurodivergent women can rest, regulate, and thrive.

How are the retreats designed for neurodivergent participants?

Every aspect is co-created by & with autistic and ADHD participants in mind — including pacing, rest periods, activities themselves, and community rhythm.

This ensures an environment of radical acceptance and shared regulation, not forced masking or performance.

Who handles payments and bookings?

Bookings are securely processed through SquadTrip, a Black-owned travel platform that shares our commitment to community, safety, and transparency.

Can I bring my service animal or emotional-support pet?

Because this is our first retreat, we’re still building the infrastructure to safely and responsibly include additional service-dog handlers.

For now, Natalee’s trained medical-alert service dog will be on-site to ensure personal safety and to model the accessibility standards we’re working toward.

Future retreats will expand this inclusion through the Canine M.A.M.M.A.L. Program — a three-year developed initiative designed to support Black, neurodivergent, and queer women who are service-dog handlers or wish to train their own medical-alert partners.

This phase is about creating the foundation — so that the retreats ahead can welcome more of us, safely and sustainably.

Are these retreats only for women?

Yes. These Neurodivergent retreats abroad are intentionally designed as sacred spaces for neurodivergent women—both adult diagnosed and undiagnosed—who often go unseen and unsupported in mainstream wellness, travel and advocacy spaces.

Our community centers Black, Brown, and LGBTQIA+ neurodivergent women, creating an affirming circle of rest, creativity, and reconnection that honors lived experience.

This focus isn’t about exclusion—it’s about representation & ensuring those who’ve historically been unheard finally have a place where they can breathe, unmask, and belong.

Will there be sensory accommodations?

Yes. Each ND retreat abroad offers sensory-friendly itineraries and quiet spaces & times designed for diverse processing needs. From lighting and sound considerations to communication preferences, everything is structured to foster comfort, dignity, and autonomy.

Will filming or photography take place during the retreat?

Presence is our priority. Cell-phone use is limited to private rooms or during optional outings.

Phones and filming are not permitted during meals, workshops, or shared circles, allowing everyone to stay grounded and unobserved.

Select moments may be quietly documented for UNMASKED, Natalee’s ongoing docuseries on neurodivergent artistry and liberation & for future retreats.

Any participant filming will require written consent from all involved through the official waiver process. This boundary preserves presence, privacy, and peace for women who have rarely been able to exist unseen yet safe.

How do I get to the retreat home from the airport?

Plus package guests will receive airport shuttle & is available for add-on for Core guest. You’ll also receive a Sensory-Safe Arrival Guide after booking with:

  • Step-by-step directions from Mérida International Airport

  • A map of the Uber zone

  • Grounding tips after flight

  • Backup transport options for low-stress arrivals

What meals are included?

All meals are fully plant-based, curated in partnership with Mérida’s vegan community.

Private delivery and low-stimulation dining periods are available for guests who prefer solitude or quiet mealtimes.

Is there a way to participate if the retreats are full?

Absolutely. Joining the waitlist grants early access to new retreat locations, special announcements, and digital M.A.M.M.A.L. community experiences including Navigating Neurodivergence with Natalee—a reflective workshop series on advocacy and self-regulation.

Ensuring you’re always part of the journey, even before spots open up.
